Client Work
Case studies
Here are some case studies of people and organisations we have supported. Because our work is highly confidential and we are bound by professional ethics, we can only use first names or the relevant business sector.
Managing anxiety and change management
Managing absenteeism
With absenteeism at over five per cent, this major hospitality employer was feeling the impact on their productivity and bottom line.
Of their 2000-strong workforce, 80% were manual workers covered by trade union agreements. They called Pinnacle Proactive for advice.
Our proactive approach
We advised an audit so we could identify the underlying causes and trends of absenteeism. We were asked to complete the audit and feedback our findings to the company directors. We were asked to complete a recommendations report and then asked to implement our three recommendations.
Key trigger points were identified to support department managers to be proactive with staff to provide additional training or conduct interviews.
All recommendations were agreed by the trade unions.
Working at peak performance
Over a period of two years, absenteeism in the organisation dropped from five per cent to three per cent. This was the target set by the client and the industry standard.
"The model was so successful, it became a substantial part of the company's initiative to tackle absenteeism"..
Inspiring people
Fractured and de-motivated, the Education Department team felt isolated and unsupported within a government department. At least one team member was actively seeking another job.
Facing huge challenges with only a small team, they felt their voice wasn't being heard.
The head of department called us asking how we could help.
Our proactive approach
We advised a plan to re-connect, re-inspire and empower the team. A special half-day session was set aside and in a safe and facilitated setting each team member aired their concerns.
Together we set out individual and shares values and developed strategies for influencing key staff within other parts of the business. The team gave each other positive feedback.
Working at peak performance
The team clarified its mission and set out key milestones to achieve it. Experienced staff have stayed in the department and the business has avoided resignations. The team then developed their own strategic plans to achieve their mission.
"As each team member received positive feedback, it proved a powerful turning point in the rebuilding of staff rapport and mutual respect"..
Managing stress and confidence
The sales statistics of a start-up electronics business were dipping and so was the confidence of the director of the small business.
Several factors were involved - the pressure of running a new business, the pressure of the new business needing to grow and perform in line with financial goals - with a new team.
Our proactive approach
We worked on counselling the director through the stress triggers and worked on stress management techniques.
After the sessions were successful, we moved on to provide coaching sessions to build the director's confidence by working on her professional skills and personal strengths.
Working at peak performance
Just eighteen months on, the business has grown from 10 to over 30 staff - with profits soaring from approximately £1 million to over £8 million.
"By sorting out the stress and shifting the primary focus to my strengths, the impacts on the productivity and growth of the business have been exceptional"..
Managing promotion and communication
Fiona has been promoted to head up the team of which she was previously a part.
She was struggling with adjusting to her new role and to the relationships with new reports, who were previously her colleagues.
She was fearful of how to deal with the resentment her promotion had generated.
Our proactive approach
We worked on counselling Fiona through positive communication techniques and dealing with fear. We developed inter-personal skills with Fiona to deal with the challenging situation.
After the sessions were successful, we moved on to provide coaching sessions to deal with issues around self-perception and with beliefs she held about her new role which skewed expectations of herself and her colleagues.
Working at peak performance
Fiona has since emerged as a more skilled and confident leader and team manager.
"By revealing and reworking perceptions of herself and her new team, both morale and productivity have been transformed. Fiona has since emerged as a more skilled and confident leader and team manager. Not surprisingly, what has also transpired is a far more productive team". Vice President - HR..
Developing superior communication skills
Communication skills is always a topic falling within counselling and coaching. In 2008, Pinnacle Proactive worked on dispelling the myth that charisma is not an attribute that you are born with - but a skill that can be learned and refined.
Our proactive approach
As part of the Pinnacle Proactive quest to deliver superior communication skills training courses for peak performance, Pinnacle Proactive developed on our Charisma Masterclass™. These are two remarkable, popular and televised classes - a workshop and a 1:1 course that trains on how to maximise verbal and non-verbal communication skills using superior communication skills to advantage in business and for business social occasions.
Working at peak performance
Moving from a 6/10 vocal and personality performance to a 10/10 performance.
"Excellent - very energetic presentations, great deal of invited participation and space to practice. I have much more awareness of self and how to motivate to future goals"..
"Richard's interview on Radio 2 inspired me to come along and I learned more about communicating with people"..
"Excellent - short but sweet communication exercises - the course highlighted charisma and has given me the tools to turn-up charisma"..
"Very good - tips on authenticity and active listening were extremely useful"..
"Already I can see how I can gain from first gathering myself before diving in"..
"Insightful and empowering"..
"The entire weekend was fantastic - the clear, concise communication was very powerful and focused"..

Jon had been a Key Accounts Executive in a publishing company for eight years. A sudden change in line management and in business focus demanded that he take greater control of his role. From being micro-managed, he was immediately expected to take the initiative and bring in volumes of business - without any support.
Jon froze and was recommended to Pinnacle Proactive for personal support in models of change management
Our proactive approach
We worked with Jon on a 1:1 basis for eight sessions, two sessions per week. We identified his limiting personal beliefs which were the cause of the anxiety and the behaviours that were hampering him. We then introduced success-based beliefs and established new patterns of confidence, communication, focus, change management and influencing people.
Working at peak performance
In late 2007, Jon exceeded the target set by bringing in £100k worth of new business. His commission doubled to £30K.
"The outcome was striking - Jon's change in approach produced a substantial increase in new business" Key Account Director"..
